I got my HBAC!!

Oh ladies…. :)

I plan to write up a big birth story, but I wanted to share that I had
my little baby boy, M, via HBAC (homebirth VBAC) last Friday, November
16th.

Stats: 9 lbs 10oz, 21 inches with a 14 inch head not including the
nuchal hand (his hand was up next to his head.)

Labor started at 511am and he was born at 328pm. Midwives arrived about
an hour before he was born, so it was just hubby and I which was
wonderful on one hand, but a little scary on the other especially
towards the end as I was feeling the urge to push as they walked in! :)

When I started to feel like I couldn’t do it anymore, I was really
hoping I was in transition, not just losing steam!! Fortunately, I was
in transition!

No tears on the perineum, just a couple labial tears.

The recovery has been so different. Has been wonderful to be home,
incredible to walk, use the restroom, and eat after delivery. To sleep
without nurses waking me to get my vitals… it is incredible.

Thank you to all of you incredible women. I have been no mail on the
main ICAN list for a couple months now, but was an active reader and
somewhat active contributor for about a year or so. The resource that
you provide is invaluable. The encouragement, the knowledge, the
hope…

I can hardly believe I gave birth – I can hardly believe I did it. It
all seems like a dream.
