While pregnant with my HBAC baby, I saw a DO who specialized in OMM. From my birth story:
I experienced fewer aches and pains and my body felt fantastic until about the last week of pregnancy. I attribute this to exercising 2-3 times per week and seeing an Osteopath (DO) who specializes in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine or OMM. Not only did this eliminate back and hip pain, but she also ensured that my pelvis remained aligned providing the baby with the largest pelvic outlet, and hopefully shortening my labor. (Find a DO near you.)
My labor, which was my first vaginal birth, was 9 hours from the first contraction to birth. I’m sure having my pelvis aligned to the optimal position contributed to my relatively short first-time birth. I highly recommend anyone I know who is pregnant to try it out. At least go once to ensure your pelvis is aligned. I still go to my DO about every 2-3 months. Read more about OMM and pregnancy at The Stillpoint which is best read in Mozilla’s Firefox.
