Dr. Biter has resigned
I spoke to Dr. Biter. He could not discuss the details of his resignation from Scripps Encinitas Hospital but I’m certain it’s more complex than we know. Anytime a person takes on the system, it’s never cut & dry nor is it ever a fair fight. I know Dr. Biter has always put his patients 1st & is putting together a plan to continue to ensure the safe care of his patients during this transitional time.
5/21/10 4:11pm – Very exciting news per BringBiterBack.com! While I’m saddened I didn’t get to attend any of the protests, I’m pleased with the outcome!

RALLY CANCELLED!!!
After over 1600 signatures to a petition, days of crowds supporting Dr. Biter, cars and trucks painted with slogans such as “We love Dr. Biter” and “Bring Biter Back,” we are pleased to confirm that an email was sent by the administration at the hospital that obstetric privileges were reinstated yesterday for the popular doctor. His gynecologic privileges were never suspended and also remain in place. While we are all excited to celebrate the reinstatement of Dr. Biter’s OB privileges at Scripps Encinitas, he has contacted one of his biggest supporters to request that no public rallies take place today at the hospital. He has also chosen to not make a public statement at this time.
While the overwhelming amount of support for Dr. Biter and his approach to natural child birth has not gone unnoticed, the organizing members of BringBiterBack.com request that any celebrations take place in the privacy of our own homes with our families and babies.

I hate all the secrecy surrounding issues like this. It is so frustrating – I just want to know the TRUTH so that I can make my own decisions about doctors and hospitals!
I hope that Dr. Biter has resigned so that he may fully pursue his birth center. That would be awesome.
I am saddened by the whole process, because it casts a dark cloud over the doctor that will take a long time to dissipate. Even if he did nothing wrong, the fact that there was a “scandal” attached to his name will change the way people view him.
